Customer Sales & Support Manager

A newly created role with a global instrumentation organisation. Reporting to the Sales Director, the Customer Sales & Service Support Manager will take responsibility for managing a small customer facing tem comprising Sales, Sales Admin and Service Support personnel, along with supporting distributor and agents. The successful candidate will work closely with the Sales Director along with production and logistic departments to ensure the highest levels of customer service are delivered and that all orders are able to be fulfilled on-time and sales are achieved in-line with company targets.

This is a Head Office based role in rural East Sussex and your day to day responsibilities will include:
• Support Sales and Support team with technical/operational/Regulatory questions
• With the Sales Director, develop the department budget in-line with company expectations
• Support the recruitment and on-boarding of new team members
• Deliver the highest quality support to customers
• Oversee Sales order process; taking responsibility for quotes/tenders, contract agreements, ensuring products are delivered on-time and arranging installation logistics
• Be the point of contact for distributors and agents on all aspects of product enquiries (new products, stock, lead times, availability etc..)
• Support the pre-sales process by providing technical information on product capabilities and selection; hosting customer visits when appropriate
• Manage distributor network, working with the Sales Director to identify distributors, implement agreements and provide training and support
• Monitor market developments and competitor activity to ensure the organisation remains competitive within the market with class leading products
• Work with Sales, Distributors and Customers to identify new product initiatives and product innovations and feedback to R&D teams

Whilst this role is mainly office based there will be some travel involved estimated to be c.25% of your working time. Travel is likely to be global so will include nights away from home.

About you:
This is a technical commercial role so applicants must be degree qualified (or with equivalent lab experience) in a scientific discipline (life science, biology, material science or closely related). Our client is looking for a proven commercial background so requires c5years+ experience within a Sales, Customer Support role for a scientific organisation. Deeper experience dealing with regulatory bodies, import/export licences would be highly desirable as would experience of dealing with the field service of instrumentation. You should be fluent in English with excellent communication skills and will be highly organised with previous experience of managing a team.
