My client is an innovative, dynamic and rapidly growing Biotechnology company based in Wales offering a cutting edge technology driven drug discovery platform. My client is looking for an experienced bioinformatician to support them in their research and development plan.


This is a business critical role and a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Scientist to come in and support the execution of the business strategy.
As the Head of R&D you will have the responsibility of deploying a £1.1M budget to map out antigens and antibodies through planning and experiments. The head of R&D will be responsible for running phage display experiments and parallelise them for automation. In this role, on a daily basis, you will be working closely with machine learning engineers and bioinformaticians.


* You will have the opportunity to build the largest antigen-antibody database
* You will be responsible for identifying and the selection of targets
* You will have the chance to run and be responsible for phage display experiments
* Quality assurance
* Procurement of consumables
* You will be responsible designing protocols optimise for data generation
* Using a LIMS system to manage protocols
* Making automation-ready protocols
* Reporting results


* You will be a PhD or postdoc in relevant field
* You will need to be experienced in setting up and running a lab
* Experienced in phage display and antibodies
* Experienced in NGS, PacBio
* Excellent molecular biology skills (cloning , PCR, sequence analysis)
* Expert in high-throughput methods
* Ability to work as a team
* Must be self-motivated and able to share learning and expertise.
* Respect for others
* Ability to work and communicate well with others is essential


* Experience in building affinity maturation libraries
* Experience in an industrial setting
