Laboratory Technician

West Sussex   •  Up to £21000 per annum + Shift Allowance   •  Permanent, Full time


Laboratory Technician


A growing biotechnology organisation currently requires a Laboratory Technician to join its team. You will be responsible for processing blood and tissue samples as per Standard Operating Procedures. You must also undertake all relevant sample testing, namely serology, viability and microbiology, to determine the efficacy of the sample. You must hold a BSc is a scientific discipline and previous laboratory experience to apply for this role.


Laboratory Technician Responsibilities and Duties:


  • To work within strict guidelines in our laboratory

  • Must be able to work in a GLP/GMP compliant laboratory using CAT A/B cleanroom technology

  • Must be able to work using extreme aseptic technique, being acutely aware of sterility and contamination

  • To undertake all testing and compliance analysis of samples processed to the highest standards

  • To undertake validation and on-going assessment of processing samples

  • To maintain and review processing procedures to ensure compliance with current legislation

  • To maintain (and prove) an active knowledge of current legislation to ensure compliance at all times

  • To assist in the maintenance of the company database for the use of stem cells and therapeutic applications

  • To undertake and provide evidence of CPD in line with legal requirements and to ensure the highest standards are maintained

  • To have a sound and up to date knowledge of stem cell technology so as to provide information in response to customer queries

  • To maintain laboratory stock levels for efficient processing of samples in accordance with workload and adjust if necessary

  • To ensure environmental monitoring is carried out and that the highest levels of cleanliness are constantly maintained in the laboratory

  • Manual handling of sample racks stored in liquid nitrogen tanks

  • To assist with auditing and sample relocation in cryo tanks



Laboratory Technician Experience and Qualifications required:


  • BSc Scientific Discipline

  • Demonstrable aseptic technique;

  • Demonstrable aseptic technique;

  • Excellent computer skills;

  • Excellent numerical skills;

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to think clearly, analyse processes and provide solutions;
