Lead Toxicologist

A global, leading speciality chemicals company are currently seeking a Lead Toxicologist to join their Product Compliance and Regulatory group at their European HQ in Berkshire. As the Lead Toxicologist you will be tasked with Leading the team in developing, interpreting, and communicating toxicological data, providing product stewardship/regulatory affairs support to ensure the businesses compliance with applicable regulations. You will also Lead toxicity testing, modelling, and read across to evaluate health and safety risk of products.

Responsibilities:

1 Lead, manage, and develop toxicology team

2 Develop, implement, and lead a long term tox strategic plan that aligns with business needs and regulatory obligations

3 Lead process to identify, classify, and maintain human health and/or environmental hazards of chemicals associated with company products

4 Manage outside toxicology test lab budget leveraging "Cost to Serve" and Lean tools to improve service delivery and reduce cost.

5 Prepare design, review, evaluate, and interpret toxicology test results (mammalian and eco-tox) related to substances of interest to the business and communicate results and recommendations to management.

6 Interact with regulatory agencies on toxicology matters related to new regulation and product registration.

7 Assemble, review and interpret data from literature, testing, chemical grouping, and modeling used as a basis for development of our SDS toxicity and classification statements. Monitor on an on-going basis.

8 Monitor and review technical literature and databases for new scientific information on petroleum-based and chemical additive products/materials and provide recommendations to management on strategies to minimize the impacts of our products.

9 Participate on industry trade associations, technical workgroups, and scientific/regulatory advocacy committees that address toxicology issues of interest to the business.

10 Participate on interdisciplinary business teams in the development of new products by reviewing and modeling components and evaluating for potential health and/or environmental concerns.

Requirements:

* Master of Science or Ph.D. level education in Toxicology, Pharmacology, Biochemistry, Life sciences or other applicable field.
* In-depth technical experience in principles / theories / methods of toxicology testing, study management and complex risk assessments.
* Sufficient relevant work experience in the toxicology field
