We are looking for a R&D scientist with experience of planning and conducting research projects within the chemical or related industry. The successful candidate will be an integral member of the R&D team developing new products and building the scientific knowledge base of the organisation.

* Plan and conduct experiments for one or more R&D projects in line with agreed
development plan
* Participate in scale up and optimisation of new products ensuring a smooth transition
of technology to field trials
* Support R&D trials of new products at customer facilities
* Evaluate raw materials, develop specifications and collaborate with Procurement to
develop raw material supply
* Provide regular project updates on progress to the line manager as required
* Conduct risk assessments and COSHH assessments within R&D
* Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures especially relating to product
development and Health and Safety
* Liaise with third parties and strategic partners to deliver specific projects as required
* Develop a strong collaborative relationship with other internal functions fostering an
environment of knowledge gathering and sharing
* Build and maintain a strong scientific understanding of technologies relevant

Candidate profile

* Experience of planning and conducting R&D projects using scientific principles to advance the development processes
* Proven new product development experience taking novel concepts to commercial success
* Experience of chemical formulation testing and development
* Excellent understanding of basic laboratory techniques such as titration and chromatography
* Analytical and methodical approach to problem solving
* A self-reliant, results orientated, energetic, flexible individual with a strong attention detail and team working ethos
* Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills
* Interest in the deployment of technologies design to lower the carbon footprint of industry sectors such as the Food industry
* BSc Chemistry minimum
* Experience utilising electrochemical techniques and chemical analysis
* Structured approach to experimental design ideally with a basic understanding of
* Statistical Design of Experiments
* Experience of EU Biocidal regulations (desirable)
