Head of Technical - Animal Nutrition - Dairy Cow
An ambitious and rapidly expanding international dairy business are currently seeking a Head of Technical to join play a pivotal role in the technical leadership of the company's Animal Nutrition Business. As the Head of Technical you will be supporting the businesses mission to be the leading product specialist in Young Animal, Feed Fats and Forage products for Dairy Cows.
The Head of Technical position has a high personal and professional profile within the business and in the markets in which company operates.
Reporting to the Managing Director of Animal Nutrition the opportunity is exec level and you will help to set the strategic direction for the technology of animal nutrition in the business, providing technical Support and integrity to the product family technical leads, driving new product development process, and providing technical leadership to new strategic initiatives.
The role also plays an important part in promoting the technical competence of the Animal Nutrition business and you will be the external technical face of the business in the company's interactions with industry, academic and commercial stakeholders.
The role requires a relevant background in animal nutrition/physiology together with extensive technical and commercial experience. The leadership dimension of the role requires a high level of competence in both markets facing and manufacturing aspects of the business.
As a member of the senior leadership team of the Animal Nutrition Business, you must also demonstrate excellent leadership and communication skills, together with an inclusive personal style and good interpersonal skills.
1 Ensure that the company have competent and adequate technical resource to support the three-product family.
2 Help formulate Animal Nutrition strategy and ensure the product strategy is driving the Innovation process
3 Ensure the products performance meets customer expectation and industry compliance
4 Ensure the company build their knowledge platform and store technical information within sharepoint
5 Monitor and manage customer complaints and NCP levels
6 Ensure the company's commercial managers are trained in product use
7 Develop a network of external influences and academic contacts
1 Previous expertise operating as a Departmental / People manager
2 Degree in Animal Nutrition (Or related subject)
3 Experience of applying CI / management tools
4 Demonstrable people management and motivation skills
5 A structured approach to managing processes
6 Livestock husbandry experience - In particular a strong understanding of the Dairy Cow industry
7 Strong customer facing skills
8 An ambitious and motivated leader
