Mediplacements are looking for an experienced Biomedical Scientist in Toxicology for a job vacancy in Essex

*Working in a UKAS Accredited ISO 17025 laboratory and to aseptic standards
*Processing samples and analysing for drugs of abuse and alcohol.
*Complying with GMP and GLP
*Making reagents, buffer solutions and QC for equipment in use daily
*Booking samples into LIMS and troubleshooting discrepancies
*Using CEDIA/ HEIA (Beckman Coulter) method to test samples for specific drugs of abuse.
Cocaine, Methadone, Amphetamine, Methamphetamine, 6MAM(heroin), Buprenorphine, opiates,
Making the specific media assay required for the tests and loading and testing with QCs to validate assays.
Making daily QC media and testing QC media.
Troubleshooting CEDIA (Beckman coulter)
Performing calibrations on CEDIA and making weekly calibrators for use.
Maintenance of CEDIA.
*Using immunoassay techniques to test for specific drugs of abuse.
Testing samples using ELISA method.
Testing for specific drugs using ELISA; benzodiazepines, AEME and cannibinoids.
Registering samples using LIMS
Loading the ELISA with reagents needed for a full automatic pipetting cycle
*Buffers, reagents, stop solution (H2SO4) and substrate.
Manually pipetting samples using multichannel pipettes
Reading and analysing plates
Creating Cerficates of Analysis and Sending results to the customer/ client.
*Daily, weekly and monthly maintenance of equipment for quality control purposes
*Performing stock check for laboratory consumables.

To be successful for this role, you must be a fully qualified Biomedical Scientist with a minimum of 12 months recent experience within a UK based hospital and proven experience within Haematology.
