Laboratory Technician

Tyne and Wear   •  £18000 - £20000 per annum  •  Permanent, Full time

A growing pharmaceutical company are looking for a Laboratory Technician to join their manufacturing team. You will be responsible for manufacturing orders for unlicensed medicines in compliance with cGMP guidelines. You ideally will hold a BSc in a life science and have a minimum of 1 years' experience working to GMP standards.


* To correctly carry out in-process checks throughout the various accuracy checking stages (Weights, Volumes, Quantity checks)
* To properly identify errors and be able to provide guidance on rectification and raise errors to Supervisor / Manager as appropriate
* To be able to prioritise workload and assemble orders based on priority, allocating orders to junior members of the team in the absence of Senior or Supervisor
* Follow and promote relevant SOPs, Job aids and company policies at all times
* Compound orders for non-sterile products in a variety of dosage forms, following methodologies and manufacturing techniques to achieve desired result
* Assemble and operate cleanroom equipment in accordance with health and safety, cGMP guidelines and SOPs
* Produce accurate records of activities and log all results precisely
* Package finished products in appropriate packaging
* Inspect finished products for quality and adherence to specifications
* Transfer hazardous or non-hazardous waste materials to collection areas for disposal
* Calibrate or adjust equipment to ensure fitness for purpose and quality assurance purposes
* Troubleshoot problems with equipment, devices or products

Skills and experience -

* BSc in a life science
* Previous Lab experience working to GMP
* Ability to control operations of equipment or systems
* Hands on approach with "can do" attitude
* A commitment to learning and development
