Mechanical Designer

An excellent opportunity has arisen for several Mechanical Designers to join an ambitious, well-funded interdisciplinary research group based in New York City. These hires will work on the mechanical design and construction of new generations of my clients custom-built supercomputer, collaborating with their team on all phases of system development, from concept to delivery.

Experience required:

*Successful candidates will have expertise in sheet metal and machined part design, including hands-on prototyping and testing of chassis and enclosures, and modeling and drafting in SolidWorks and/or PTC Creo (Pro/Engineer).
*They should have a demonstrated ability to design complex, rack-based electronic packaging systems with integrated power and cooling.
*Other relevant experience might include plastics design and injection molding, creating assembly drawings, and resolution of DFM/DFA issues.
*Excellent analytical and communication skills are required.
*Many qualified candidates may have associate's degrees or high school diplomas with 5+ years of professional experience in SolidWorks design and drafting
*You are not required to have a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
*5+ years of experience with SolidWorks required
*Specialization in drafting/prototyping
*Demonstrated experience creating documentation
*Relevant design and drafting work: Chassis, power distribution units (PDUs), PCB boards, enclosures, sheet metal brackets

Other relevant experience:

*Plastics design and injection molding
*Creating assembly drawings
*Resolution of DFM/DFA issues
*Relevant industries include the semiconductor industry and others that require complex sheet metal designs, including telecom or military contractors
*Excellent communication skills required
