I am looking for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join a well know manufacturing company based in Torquay. This successful candidate will be Responsible for improving and defining new processes for the products released to manufacture following their design phase in site or central development engineering. Managing cost improvement objectives and technical support of the operational function.
5+ years' experience in an engineering or manufacturing.
Demonstrated leadership skills.
Experience in Photonics and it applications, specifically fibre optics
Experience in manufacturing environment essential.
Experience in Lean Six Sigma and Lean Principles in volume manufacturing preferred
1 Provide technical support to manufacturing with respect to product/process design and functionality.
2 Retain the relationship with the Product Management and Design Engineering to ensure constant collaboration. Involvement with projects and in some instances take the lead with customer communication.
3 Manage technical issue escalation process from manufacturing, with the appropriate level of on hand shop floor support in each production area.
4 Drive implementation and maintenance of LEAN and CI practices across the organisation.
5 Achieve budget for labour and material cost reduction as determined in agreement with GM and central objectives.
6 Resolve issues with manufacturing when product quality risks are identified.
7 Support transfer of Beta level product to release to manufacture, optimising cost through process, material and yield in collaboration with Development Engineering and Manufacturing.
8 Support the training of new and existing processes, raising training and process corrective actions with manufacturing when required.
9 Establish best practice operational process for clean rooms.
10 Drive culture of Manufacturing Engineering excellence
11 Support Quality, Supply Chain & Manufacturing Managers ensuring all aspects of the business support the needs of our customers.
12 Support Product Configuration (currently PCR) and engineering change processes.
1 Understand all business system tools and ensure correct implementation by Manufacturing Engineering personnel.
2 NPD and NPI procedures and process.
3 Have awareness of scorecard KPIs, understand how Manufacturing Engineering actions and strategy effects site performance.
4 Understand STG strategy and objectives, and the timelines for delivery of new products to the site.
5 Knowledge of H&S to a level where issues can be highlighted and managed by the appropriate personnel.
6 Knowledge and understanding of Lean Manufacturing & Continual Improvement strategy.
