Analytical R&D Manager - Speciality Chemicals - ISO 17025 - GCMS - LCMS - Perm - Manchester - £Comp + excellent company benefits

An international speciality chemicals company are currently seeking an Analytical R&D Manager to join their state of the art facility in Manchester. This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate with excellent project & team leadership skills to drive leading teams at the forefront of cutting edge technology to remain the world leader in the development of of speciality chemicals.

You will provide technical leadership in Analytical to implement and ensure the overall effectiveness of the company's R&D strategy. You will also effectively plan and manage people, budget, projects, and test resources to deliver stated objectives and meet the needs of the business.

Lead a group of team leaders, chemists, technicians and interns in the development of enabling chemistry, new products, and performance testing to meet the needs of customers.

Supervise team member activities and progress, conduct performance appraisals, discuss training and career development needs, recruit and retain team members, and resolve problems and disciplinary issues.

Provide technical leadership to help team members arrive at the best solution for the business. Develop new analytical and test methods to characterise products and enable manufacturing capability.

Ensure complete ISO documentation is maintained on all ISO or Quality related activities. Participate in ISO/Quality related activities and maintain an up-to-date understanding of the ISO/Quality function.

Guide team members in the analytical department, to complete a range of analysis within strict time constraints (GC/GC-MS, LC/LC-MS, IR, and NMR).

Bachelor's degree in relevant field such as Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.

Demonstrated effective project management and leadership skills in a chemical analytical environment typically acquired after a number of years of relevant experience, including supervisory experience.

Possess expert understanding in analytical procedures including method development and validation (GC/GC-MS, LC/LC-MS, IR, and NMR).

Excellent communication skills with the ability to drive a team and successfully complete projects within strict customer time constraints.

Current/previous experience liaising directly with customers and clients to relay technical information on project work and effectively communicate back to the analytical team regarding to any complaints.
