Technical Manager - Waste Management - Continuous Improvement

West Yorkshire   •  £30000 - £33000 per annum + Benefits   •  Permanent, Full time

An opportunity has arisen for a technical manager to join a growing environmental and renewable energies business based in West Yorkshire. As the technical manager you will support the overall facility operations, including technical processes, management of the laboratory and process improvement across the site. To be successful as the technical manager you should possess experience managing a technical laboratory or related department and be able to deliver process improvements across the facility.

Technical Manager Responsibilities:

*Support the operation of the facility with regards to technical reviews of the process, compliance with technical requirements such as odour management and animal by-products.
*Manage the laboratory with regards to the lab technician, sampling, analysis, stock control, use of contractors and external bodies, reporting of process deviations and support in resolving process issues.
*Lead process improvements across the facility, to decrease costs and improve efficiency.
*Responsible for COSHH assessments, training of operational personnel in lab techniques, issue and review of lab risk assessments.
*Ensure that critical process data is reviewed daily and process issues resolved or escalated.
*Hold regular reviews of all process data, check for process control, trends and deviations and resolve or escalate all issues.
*Deliver on improvement projects and present results to the senior management team.

Technical Manager Requirements:

*Educated to a degree level or equivalent within a relevant discipline.
*Experience of managing a technical department, (laboratory analysing liquids and solids)
*Demonstrable experience of reviewing process data and making immediate and long term improvements to a process
*A formal C.I or 6 sigma qualification with examples of successful improvement projects is desirable.
*Due to the variety of the role, excellent organisation skills are essential & the requirement to work additional hours as the business requires.
