The Background

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Buyer with experience stock controlling, to be an integral part of the Procurement function in the achievement of Operational objectives. With a solid background in purchasing and supply chain management, the experienced Buyer will build strong relationships with supply partners to ensure continuity of supply to support the Leigh business

The Role

As the Buyer you will be responsible for:

*Monitoring of the departments KPI's and ensuring corrective actions are identified and implemented if required.
*Working with Head of Procurement to develop a continuous improvement plan for KPI's.
*Ensuring that the department/purchasing data (system) is accurate and up to date.
*Managing and controlling all the company's external suppliers with particular emphasis on the purchase of Materials and finished parts for production.
*To use the business system and other business information to identify what materials and quantities need to be ordered to satisfy customer and factory requirements and place orders on suppliers to ensure requirements are ordered for required dates.
*To review run rates of fast moving products and maintain safety stock levels accordingly
*Identify new suppliers, agree terms and negotiate supply agreements where appropriate, including discount structures and volume rebates.
*Foster close working relationships with associated departments e.g. Sales, Engineering and Operations
*Continually improve purchasing methods and drive down external spend.
*Supplier visits both in the UK and abroad.

The Person

To be successful in the role of Buyer you will have the following skills and experience:

* CIPS qualified
*Operating in a fast-paced environment to challenging deadlines.
*Demonstrable evidence of controlling spend and negotiating improvements in pricing and/or delivery commitment.
*Procurement of raw materials as well as finished components.
*Background in Manufacturing preferred.
*Management of the supply chain is required and previous strategic responsibility is desirable.
*MRP experience; knowledge of Baan and CRM would be a distinct advantage.

The Package

In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £30,000 - £35,000 (dependent on experience) and an industry leading benefits package.
