QC /Analytical Chemist Technician

Our client is specialized in developing pharmaceutical and medical device products. Due to continuous growth they are seeking to recruit an experienced QC Analytical Technician to work within their analytical department. The role is based in Surrey and involves testing / analysing a range of monomer, polymer and product samples using wet chemistry analytical and instrumental techniques such as Gas Chromatography, HPLC, FTIR, DSC, Inherent viscosity, UV analysis to GMP, GLP and Health & Safety (H&S) standards

Key Responsibilities:

QC and Analytical:

  • Carrying out incoming material, R&D sample and QC sample preparation according to SOPs, work requests, procedures and instructions.
  • Carrying out incoming material, R&D sample and QC sample analysis using existing and new equipment according to SOPs, work requests, procedures and instructions.
  • Calibration and daily checking of equipment, balances and pipettes
  • Result reporting and brief report writing
  • Conduct and document QC work and tasks according to Quality system
  • Preparation of Certificates of Analysis
  • Release or reject analysed samples
  • Development and validation of analytical methods
  • SOP/Batch record development
  • Any other appointed tasks

Other responsibilities:

  • Looking after QC laboratory area, cleaning of glassware and small equipment
  • Looking after analytical and QC laboratory supplies and placing orders for laboratory in collaboration with other functions, storing of analytical materials, other supplies and small equipment according to Quality System
  • Supporting production and R&D activities

Qualifications:

  • Chemistry/Analytical Science degree desirable
  • Experience working with GC and/or HPLC analytical methods desirable
  • Ability to perform manual and automated tests in a methodical and scientific fashion to a high level of accuracy and precision and to operate associated analytical equipment
  • Ability to use computer software packages, such as Chromatography Data Handling and Excel, for the collection, processing and reporting of data
  • Experience of GMP/GLP environments desirable
  • Hands-on working experience with polymers and knowledge of polymer characterization would be an advantage: e.g. DSC, FTIR, Inherent viscosity, GPC
