Procurement Manager - Manufacturing - GMP - Berks -£45k-£55k
Our client is a pharmaceutical manufacturer at a very exciting stage of growth. The Procurement Manager is a brand new role, giving you the opportunity to implement your own systems and build your own team. You must have significant experience within procurement roles within another GMP environment, preferably pharmaceuticals.
Reporting to the Commercial Director, the Procurement Manager will be responsible for the ongoing procurement of all raw materials required for a Solid Dosage Pharmaceutical Manufacturing organization. The successful candidate will also be responsible for building the Procurement team in the future.
As the Procurement Manager, you will be part of a team responsible for the purchase of materials, equipment and services required by the business. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring such tasks are conducted in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
Tasks and Responsibilities
*Ensure that relevant contracts are in place for key suppliers as assigned and supported by the Commercial Director and as sourced by the post holder, where necessary.
*Ensure that contracts are awarded based on appropriate competitive tending and bidding as per internal policies and guidelines.
*Manage relevant purchasing categories or supplier relationships.
*Source and negotiate prices for materials, consumables, equipment and services as required by internal stakeholders.
*Produce regular spend analysis reports as required by the business as well as a monthly departmental report which monitors procurement KPI's.
*Implement procurement strategies and improvements which will generate value for the company.
*Ensure the regular update of catalogues and SAP records so as to keep purchase prices current to maximize savings for the company.
*Process SAP purchase orders for the assigned purchasing groups and follow up on outstanding orders with suppliers.
*Evaluate suppliers from Cgmp perspective.
*Understand regulatory implications linked with api/ excipients changes.
*Ensure that purchasing information and supplier data is kept up to date in order to maintain procurement efficiencies.
*Provide training to staff on procurement best practice.
*Work with Human Resources to build the Procurement team as a when necessary.
*Build a procurement/sourcing team for key materials/ key capex items.
*Any other activities that may be considered responsible to undertake by the post holder, as directed by Senior Management and Directors.
*Degree in relevant sciences or engineering (preferred).
*CIPS Level 5 (Desirable).
*Substantial procurement experience in the Pharmaceutical industry; laboratory equipment and consumables as well as chemicals, excipients, primary packaging and other materials for production.
*Decent understanding of the chemical synthesis behind the making of the API and how the prices of the intermediates go on to affect the API price.
*A good understanding of MRP and other material replenishment systems terminology.
*Experience in working with quality records.
*Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
*Strong communication skills (verbal and written); demonstration of ability to communicate effectively with suppliers and staff at all levels.
*Demonstration of ability to manage and co-ordinate activities for multiple projects while achieving tight deadlines.
*Demonstration of workload prioritisation.
