QC Microbiology Supervisor - GMP - Berkshire - £25k
A growing biotechnology company require a QC Microbiology Supervisor to join its Berkshire facility. You will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the QC area of the laboratory by providing day to day leadership of laboratory activities. It is essential that you have a strong microbiology background gained within a GMP environment. You must also have experience of supervising or managing a small team.
Supervising the initiation of production; in-line QC testing; and assisting the Laboratory Manager in communicating expectations to all laboratory staff.
Organise and monitor work flow, ensuring all company products are of the required standards and are available to customers within agreed timescales.
Contribute to the development of the Company's operational process and maintain effective working relationships within and between all team members to ensure the laboratory is running smoothly, and help mitigate risk of failure to deliver customer requirements on time, every time.
*Delivering work flow to support the production schedule and associated laboratory tasks by organising and motivating staff and performing laboratory scientific tasks as required.
*Resolving problems and reporting results to line manager
*Maintaining working relationships and fostering a spirit of cooperation/ communication within and between departments
Work Flow & Laboratory Documentation
*Assist in scheduling work and resources to meet customer requirements; monitoring progress and reporting any issues to the Laboratory Manager
*Assist with the generation and checking of laboratory paperwork; ensuring accurate completion of all laboratory documentation:
oAntigen Production Records (APR's)
oData Capture Forms (DCF's)
*Maintain and update laboratory SOP's / DCF's, and manage completion of associated training records
*Help maintain quality service delivery by enforcing organization standards
*Maintain safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel; maintaining compliance with established EHS and quality policies and procedures; removal of waste and cleaning as required.
oCollate and check all laboratory environmental, temperature monitoring and cleaning records.
*Report on laboratory, quality and EHS issues to managers and staff.
*Initiate/investigate laboratory deviations, non-conformances and change controls.
oResolving problems by analysing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions; recommending actions to line manager.
Plant & Equipment
*Monitoring equipment and resources; reporting plant or machinery breakdowns to line manager and calling for repairs; evaluating and validating new equipment and techniques where required
*Ordering and managing stock levels of raw materials and consumable items for the laboratory.
Performance Monitoring & Review
*Assist in generation of and maintaining KPI data
oProvide laboratory KPI information by compiling, sorting, and analysing performance records and data; assist line manager in reporting performance
*Involvement in delivery of process improvement opportunities/ projects to reduce overall cost and increase efficiency.
*Evaluate operating practices and documentation, identify and report on any potential improvements, implement change to make more efficient
*Assist in recruitment of personnel; selecting, orienting, and training employees; assist line manager in developing personnel growth opportunities
*Provide cover for the Received Isolates Supervisor and/or the Laboratory Manager as and when required.

*Excellent practical skills and knowledge of microbiology/ laboratory techniques and processes

*Excellent time management, planning, organising and recording skills
*A clear understanding of Quality/ Health and Safety requirements in a laboratory/ production environment.
*The ability to manage multiple projects and tasks.
* Due to the location of the site, you must have your own transport to get to the site.
*Experience in supervisory role inc. evidence of managing processes and team/individual training
*Ability to implement and improve processes
*Experience of Quality/Health & Safety requirements in a laboratory/ production or equivalent environments
*Technical knowledge of emergency (bespoke) vaccine products
*Good analysing and decision making skills
