Senior Development Chemist - Cosmetics - Lincs - £30k-£35k

We are seeking a Senior Development Chemist to join a growing cosmetics manufacturer in the Lincolnshire area. You will take responsibility for the development process from initial concept through to ongoing aftercare during manufacturing. As the Senior Development Chemist you must have proven formulation or development experience within the cosmetic or health & beauty sectors. Due to the location of the site, you must have your own vehicle.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing company at a very exciting stage of growth. You will be leading the formulation projects as well as supporting in other business areas.

Key Responsibilities

*Carrying out due diligence on initial briefs from clients to analyse whether aims of the project are attainable.
*Working closely with partners and the Team to meet initial brief and surpass expectations. Including but not limited to the following products:
*Gentlemen's grooming
*Hair Colouring
*Ensure that formulations are developed:
Within Company guidelines
Within applicable regulations
Within Budget
*Management of raw material stock, data sheets and knowledge of their applications.
*Lead commercial pricing projects and maintain healthy communication with suppliers to keep costs competitive.
*Organising the testing of all development products in:
*Keeping development time to a minimum by quickly reacting to test failures and negative brief feedback.
*Providing clear feedback of development queries and aftercare requirements to clients, making their experience with the company as congenial as possible.
*Ensure that bulk produced by the production team is constantly meeting requirements and signed off samples along with QC demands.
*Managing scale up of formulations and transition into full scale manufacturing. This will require a good working relationship with the production team & may occasionally involve carrying out production & filling.
*Constantly keeping a "finger on the pulse" to maintain a strong market position in terms of raw materials. This will involve organising attendance to conferences and exhibitions.

Experience Required:

*Degree in Chemistry, or related subject. Equivalent commercial experience will also be considered
*Previous experience in a development chemist or formulation chemist position within another cosmetics or health & beauty manufacturer
*Experience in formulating haircare, hair colouring, skincare or gentlemen's grooming products
*Strong understanding of EU cosmetic regulations
*Excellent communication skills
*Ability to prioritise projects and work to deadlines.
