Technical Specialist - Regulatory- Cosmetic - Suffolk-£35k-£40k - Essential Oils - Lipids - Vegetable Oils - Natural Ingredients - HPLC - GC - CLP - QA - GMP
A supplier and manufacturer of natural ingredients to the cosmetic and personal care industry, require an experienced Technical Specialist. You will provide cross-functional support including technical (QC), regulatory and QA. You will have significant regulatory experience in the cosmetic or personal care sector, with a strong chemistry background.
For the right candidate, there is the option to work from home 1-2 days a week.
You will provide support on cosmetics legislation (inclusive of pesticide legislation) for UK, USA, EU and ROTW (Rest of the World). You will provide technical support during customer and supplier audits, ensuring that we demonstrate high levels of compliance. You will manage Quality Control Complaints Investigations identifying root cause and putting in place preventative measures. You will run Chromatographic and wet analysis of samples for the purpose of investigating quality issues and for the approval of new suppliers.
*To keep up to date with cosmetics legislation for UK, USA, EU and ROTW (Rest of the World - f.e. India , China, Japan and other key markets)
*To keep up to date knowledge of Pesticide legislation
*To provide technical support during customer and supplier audits as and when required
*To provide technical support to the purchasing, production and sales department on Cosmetic legislation in UK, USA, EU and ROTW legislation
*To support and maintain corrective action and incident reports.
*Management of Quality Control Complaints Investigations identifying root cause and putting in place preventative measures
*Liaising with Quality Control team, identifying potential issues and cause
*Attend industry Technical and Executive meetings and conferences as and when required
*Review technical journals and other literature , highlight and distribute articles of potential interest to group
*Actively participate in knowledge sharing and upskill of other staff.
*To offer Technical support to HACCP and/or FSSC 22000
*Chromatographic and wet analysis of samples for the purpose of investigating quality issues and for the approval of new suppliers
*Contribution to continuous improvement in the Technical Compliance Department (e.g. suggestions on improvements in efficiency, cost cutting, improvements in effectiveness of operation and etc.)
*Work on projects as required by the General Manager
*Liaise effectively with the Production team in Kenya, working in collaboration to ensure quality standards are met
*Effectively and efficiently communicate and co-operate with internal, external customers and suppliers on problem solving and projects which require technical input
*Undergo training in areas specific to company business as required.
*Perform such other tasks as are consistent with the general description

*Role will involve moderate levels of travel both within the UK and abroad.
*Educated to degree level in Chemistry, or related subject. Equivalent experience will be considered
*Prior experience working in a laboratory, including analysis, troubleshooting, product development and testing.
*Significant experience in a Regulatory/Technical position within the Personal Care/Cosmetics or Food Industry.
*Familiarity with essential oils and plant based products.
*You will need to have experience of Chromatographic and wet analysis techniques ideally of vegetable oils/lipids and also essential oils.
*You will display a very keen eye for detail, with excellent communication and influencing skills
