Shift Manager - COMAH - Manufacturing - Chemicals - HSE - 12hr shifts - Perm - Essex - £45k + Excellent company benefits
A leading speciality chemical business based in Essex is currently seeking for a Shift Manager to join their manufacturing site and take responsibility for the smooth running of the operations. As Shift Manager you will play a critical role in the overall operations and day to day management of the process team, ensuring that you achieve the production plan.
Shift Manager Responsibilities
*Day to day management of the team ensuring that you achieve the production plan, achieve quality standards and minimise operating costs.
*Ensuring that safety is paramount and that the team adhere to our stringent safety standards in all aspects of the work.
*Ensuring that all team members maintain competency via the competency management system; monitoring training progress, assessing competency and carrying out annual performance reviews.
*Taking a proactive approach to problems with production and maintenance and that effective liaison is maintained with all support functions to ensure effective teamwork across the Operation.
*Ensuring that compliance with all legislation and quality standards is achieved and maintained. This includes adherence to the COMAH safety report, the ISO standards applicable, and all internal procedures developed to maintain quality and safe working.
*Maintaining high standards of house-keeping and taking a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
*Assuming overall site responsibility, including implementing emergency procedures, outside day work hours.
*Undertaking project work as required.
Shift Manager Requirements
*Ideally hold a BSc qualification in a chemical/process engineering or equivalent - but is not essential.
*Possess a NEBOSH certificate or diploma is highly desirable.
*Flexible approach to work and willingness to cover on overtime when necessary.
*Can commit to a continental 12hr rotating shift pattern (2 days, 2 nights).
*Proven experience working within a fast paced refinery/process manufacturing plant or chemical manufacturing plant - ideally at a COMAH top-tier site.
*Proven management and leadership experience gained within a manufacturing unit.
*Must possess excellent communication skills, well organised and self-motivated character.
*Good analytical skills and a structured approach to problem solving.
*Previous experience following HSE (health, safety and environment) procedures.
