Microbiology Analyst - Water-Legionella- West Cumbria-£18k-£25k- Environmental

A leading water treatment company is bringing its testing service in-house and is in the process of setting up a new laboratory. You will carry out water testing from various sources on site and will also play an active part in research projects on site, implementing novel techniques and methodologies to improve the microbiological control of processes.

The Role:

The role of Microbiological Analyst is based on site at a large industrial site in West Cumbria. The site is well established; however the Microlab is a new service required by the site and this is an exciting opportunity to be involved at the outset of this ambitious project.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a company and new team at a very exciting stage of growth.

Responsibilities:

The Microbiology Analysts will work together with the Operational Team to carry out water testing from various sources on site. The Microbiology Analyst will also play an active part in research projects on site implementing novel techniques and methodologies to improve the microbiological control of specific process plant on site and provide the site with a greater understanding of microbiological risk. The individual will also become versed in the risks associated with Legionella contamination and the control measures outlined in HSG274 Legionnaires' disease Technical guidance, the provision of 'Wholesome' water for domestic purposes and the prevention of corrosion of water networks on site.

Experience Required:

*The position would suit an individual who has an enthusiasm for science and wishes to develop in a commercial lab environment
*A degree in Microbiology, or related subject OR equivalent experience
*Lab experience is an advantage but not essential as training will be given.
