Section Manager - Gloucestershire

Naynesh Mistry is recruiting for a Section Manager to work for a Food and Drinks R&D company based in Gloucestershire, on a full time, permanent basis. This client provides scientific, technical, and legislative support to the food, drinks and allied industries worldwide.

This role is part of the Technology Division with a current focus on primary production, milling and baking sectors, food manufacturers and the plant breeding industry. The department comprises a team of experienced scientists, technologies and technicians.

On offer is a competitive salary (up to £45,000) and excellent benefits plus holiday exchange scheme. The role will be 30% business development - going out and talking to clients in the food sector. The successful candidate will be expected to be out of the office about 1 day a week and are looking for someone with an Ergonomist background with a degree in crop science or plant science. This is an innovation and research role.

Job Summary:
This role will lead the development of the Primary Production section. Key objectives will be to grow the client base and income of the section by expanding its remit to a broader range of raw materials and ingredients. A major aspect of this will be to contribute to strategic development of the facilities within the organisation, as well as developing the staff within the section.
Strong leadership skills are required to define and develop the scope and work of the section to meet the section's financial and technical goals and also to develop the team members to achieve their maximum potential.
Business development responsibilities will be for both longer term and shorter term project activities and will require the building of relationships and preparation of proposals for key clients - Public and Private within the UK and beyond.

The successful Section Manager will have the following qualifications, skills and experiences:
· A graduate in a relevant scientific subject or equivalent (e.g. professional qualification and/or relevant experience). A higher degree in a relevant subject may be an advantage
· A technical knowledge of the primary production and agri-food industry (science and technology) across the appropriate range of production technologies.
- Strong leadership and influencing skills-of direct reports, peers and senior management within and outside the organization.
