Quality Manager - Manufacturing - GMP - £30k-£45k - NW.London

A growing specialist manufacturing company has a new opportunity for a Quality Manager to join its team. With the QA division still being young, you will be responsible for establishing and setting up a QMS to follow ISO 9001: 2008 and training quality staff accordingly. You will have prior QA management experience gained within another fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

*Management of ISO 9001:2008, and ISO 14001:2015 Standards
*ISO 9001:2015 Transition Gap analysis, and implementation of new ISO 9001:2015 Standard
*Establish KPIs for all direct reports
*Manage a team of Quality Control (QC) professionals
*Establish in-house quality procedures with suitable KPIs that comply with ISO Standards in conjunction with the Operations Manager
*Ensure that all manufacturing processes comply with all legal standards (including EH&S) at both national and international level
*Train Quality Departmental staff on effective monitoring of metrics, such that they have the ability to interrogate the data/system to ensure optimum performance
*Responsible for the training of all employees and Agency workers, to encourage and deliver a high standard of compliance within all operational areas
*Write Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
*Establish in-house specifications for both incoming materials and finished goods
*Specify quality requirements of raw materials with upstream suppliers
*Plan and perform both internal audits, and external supplier audits
*Set customer service standards and AQLs
*Write management/technical reports
*Conduct goods-in inspections and ensure all raw materials meet tight specifications
*Record, and analyse statistical information, and prepare QC charts for presentation to senior management on a monthly basis
*If required, conduct internal QC investigations, document Non Conformities (NCs), and take appropriate action to ensure that the company adheres to ISO Standards
*Perform follow-up on the status of outstanding internal audit issues, as and when required
*Keep records of inspection findings, and produce improvement reports

Skills and Experience Required

*Prior management of a Quality Department
*In-depth knowledge of both ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2015 Standards
*Ability to establish and set up a Quality system, such as following ISO 9001: (2008, or 2015) Standard, from first principles
*Ability to conduct gap analyses across differing quality systems, and have the ability to transpose ISO 9001:2008 into ISO 9001:2015
*ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2015 Auditor experience
*Proven track record in setting a long-term vision on quality, and driving it forwards to improve company performance
*Ability to establish and interpret metrics from both a manufacturing and laboratory perspective
*Knowledge of statistical packages
*Understanding of industry regulations, including all EH&S
*Excellent communication skills including the ability to present a detailed quality strategy to senior management
*Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate team members as and when appropriate
*Able to establish meaningful KPIs for staff and equipment
*Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
*Good numeracy and literacy skills with an eye for detail and accuracy
*Ability to prioritise, work under pressure, and meet deadlines
*Ability to work on own initiative, whilst also being a team player

Desirable but not essential

*LEAN and/or Six sigma experience
*Operational knowledge of a manufacturing process, with an ability to detect areas of weakness in terms of quality
*Knowledge of MRP or ERP systems, in terms of defining and setting Ppk and Cpk limits for all critical path equipment
*Understanding of chemistry/chemical engineering
*Ability to conduct gap analyses, including SWOT analysis from staff management perspective
